FAQs

I’m currently in training to become a coach, can I join?

Absolutely. If you’d like to use The Coaching Exchange purely for coaching practice as a trainee coach, you’ll find a fit with other coaches in a similar position. We encourage you to treat TCE as a playground where you can enjoy experimenting, find out your strengths and develop your skills.

I don’t have formal qualifications, am I eligible to join?

You don’t have to have formal qualifications to join.  Our criteria for membership are really important but really simple:

  1. a genuine commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of others, to ethical practice and to continuous improvement as a coach.
  2. honesty about your qualifications and experience when you fill in your coaching profile.

How does the matching service work?

The matching system takes into account your level of experience, the areas you want coaching on, preferred coaching foundation if you have one (e.g. 3 principles, NLP) and availability.  It offers you the best matches for your needs and ensures you always get the chance to receive coaching from those with similar or greater experience.

It’s extremely easy to use (much easier than it is to explain) and it’s set up so you’ll never draw a blank when you search for a coach.  The easiest way to get a sense of it is to take a free trial.  And of course feel free to contact us with any questions.

How does it handle time-zone differences?

Seamlessly! The system works behind the scenes so you’ll always see appointments as if they were in your time zone.  Which means you get to connect with the best coaches for your needs from across the globe.

How do I join?

The Coaching Exchange is a subscription service.  Take a free trial here.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Cancelling is easy.  You can cancel your subscription plan at any time before the next billing cycle simply by cancelling your PayPal payment.  Your membership will remain open until the end of the billing cycle.

How do I select my level of experience?

The experience level choices are there to help The Coaching Exchange find the best possible matches for you.

We don't believe coaching hours or qualifications offer an accurate measure of impact so rather than box you in with an arbitrary quantitative measure we invite you to self-select. After a few sessions you'll know whether you want to be paired with more or less experienced coaches, and you can change your level accordingly. As a rough guide:

  • Newcomer: in training or new to coaching.
  • Experienced: professional coach earning your living from coaching
  • In-between: may have some paying clients, pro-bono experience or a coaching role within your workplace.
